Project: eAuction Broadband Demonstration

Role: Sr. Information Architect

Razorfish was holding a Broadband conference to promote its capabilities in this emerging marketplace. A small interactive team was merged with a broadcast design team to create a demo product that would instigate a lively panel discussion. I was challenged to communicate in two minutes or less a concept that would be compelling to a variety of user groups and demonstrate the possibilities of a broadband channel to a auditorium filled with 500 technology attendees.

We chose to depict an auction channel. The subject matter contains a level of excitement for both the participants and a viewing audience. It can be viewed as a source of entertainment and sport in a voyeuristic style.

The interface presented four different levels of information ranging from pure video/entertainment content to the hypothetical “user’s” interface.

This was a very exciting project that allowed me to apply what had, up to that point, only been theoretical concepts regarding the role of an information architect in a broadband team setting.

The ability to present a non-linear video experience with html triggers and information overlays was highly exciting.

Conclusion: This exploratory journey into scripting such an environment created thinking and documentation that was significant to future broadband projects.
