Adobe After Effects explorations with Eric Chan and Heather Schatz of Studio ChanSchatz of New York City
There is nothing like have a week to dedicate towards learning a new application with the goal of creating one complete piece. It’s harder than it sounds. First off, you have the creative pressure of finding an intriguing concept worthy of discovery. There are so many! Which should I chose that can actually be completed using a medium I’m only partially familiar with?!
During a one week course at Anderson Ranch Art Center exploring Adobe After Effects, I created a short video with simple effects. I learned how similar (thankfully) AE tends to be with all non-linear video editors and animation editors like Adobe Flash. It’s a powerful program that, if the time is committed, can create fascinating results. I hope to have more time in the future to become more competent with this tool.
