Project: Mobile PDA Healthcare Demonstration

Role: Sr. Information Architect

To demonstrate a competency in the health care industry vertical, we researched medical environments, both non-emergency and trauma related. We proposed that, first, there was a strong need for wireless access to medical information using current hand held devices. Palm Pilots were the dominant player at the time, so we designed all the specifications to this platform. Second, Razorfish was exploring a partnership with Palm and the following demonstration would aid that relationship as well.

The following screens are samples from a scripted presentation where two kinds of user access a national health insurance provider’s records. Two scenarios were investigated: one for a patient and the other for an emergency medical technician. Both scenarios assumed the availability of wireless access.

A patient is able to access her medical records anywhere at anytime.

She selects a provider and can view the status of all claims.

An EMT accesses the system and enters a patient’s member code. They can then view primary health care information that could assist with a life threatening emergency.

We were aware of the evolving debate surrounding patient information privacy, but the concept of timely information instantly accessible remains a compelling one.
